Fico accused the opposition of a conspiracy with Zelensky.
Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico sharply criticizes the visit of opposition deputies to Kyiv
Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico has harshly criticized the recent visit of opposition deputies to Kyiv and made a number of loud statements regarding Ukraine and the European Union. This was reported by the Slovak publication Pravda.
In his address, Fico not only called the visit of the parliamentarians a 'gesture of sycophancy', but also accused the opposition of preparing a coup d'état. 'The government I lead will never support Ukraine's membership in NATO, as this will only lead to a third world war,' said the Slovak prime minister, adding that his country would also not send troops to Ukraine.
According to Fico, during the visit on January 17, Slovak deputies allegedly 'kissed Zelensky's ring' and promised to support Ukraine's NATO membership if they come to power. Additionally, the prime minister threatened to veto further EU assistance to Kyiv and stated his intention to 'respond' to the cessation of Russian gas transit through Ukraine.
Fico agreed with the possible exit of Slovakia from the EU
It is noteworthy that Fico also supported the scandalous statement of his party colleague, Deputy Speaker of Parliament Tibor Gaspra, regarding the possible exit of Slovakia from the EU. 'I absolutely agree with him that Slovakia should prepare for all possible crisis situations that the EU may face in a very short period of time,' emphasized the head of the Slovak government.
Fico concluded his address with a demonstrative statement: 'Robert Fico is the Slovak Prime Minister, not a Ukrainian servant,' alluding to his independent position regarding Ukrainian policy.
Earlier, Fico spoke about the possibility of a new meeting with Zelensky.
