Finland did not allow the tanker with Russian oil to go to sea due to technical problems

The Ukrainian tanker Eagle S, which was transporting Russian oil, could not commence its sea voyage due to serious technical problems. The Finnish Port Authority discovered 32 technical failures on the vessel, three of which posed safety hazards. Among them were issues with fire safety, navigation equipment, and the ventilation of the pump room.

Traficom emphasized that all these problems must be resolved before the tanker can go to sea.

It should be noted that the Eagle S tanker, which was sailing under the flag of the Cook Islands, was found in the Gulf of Finland at anchor. It is suspected of having damaged an underwater electric cable. Sweden is assisting Finland in the investigation of this case. The anchor was raised from the seabed and handed over to the Finnish authorities for further investigation.

The law enforcement agencies of Finland suspect the tanker of cutting an underwater electric cable and damaging four communication cables. In addition, the vessel is considered a member of the 'shadow fleet' that transports Russian oil products.
