Fox News: Trump appoints special representative for peace talks on Ukraine.
US President Donald Trump intends to appoint a special representative to conduct talks to end the war in Ukraine. The information is reported by Fox News Digital, citing several sources.
According to information from Fox News Digital, the new representative is expected to have extensive experience and authority in seeking a peaceful solution to the conflict. He will take this position on a voluntary basis, similar to what Kurt Volker did in 2017-2019.
Trump is actively forming his new administration. It is already known that Michael Waltz will become a national security advisor, and Marco Rubio is likely to be appointed as secretary of state. Steven Winikoff will be a special representative in the Middle East.
According to information from the Wall Street Journal, advisors to the president-elect are considering a plan to create an 800-mile demilitarized zone and maintain Russian control over a small area covering about 20% of Ukrainian territory. The plan also proposes that Ukraine refrain from joining NATO for a period of 20 years.
According to information from the Washington Post, a conversation took place between Trump and Putin, during which Trump called for the escalation of the conflict to be stopped. Trump's transition team neither confirmed nor denied the fact of this conversation.
