FT named unacceptable conditions of Trump's peace plan for the EU.
US President Donald Trump proposed a deal that the EU did not like. It includes recognizing Russia's sovereignty over Crimea and Ukraine's refusal to join NATO. But these conditions are unacceptable for the European Union.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky refused to recognize Russia's sovereignty over any territories seized since 2014. However, Trump criticized this position and called it harmful and provocative.
The US proposal caused tension between the EU and the US, as it breaches NATO's policy regarding Crimea. European diplomats support Ukraine's sovereignty and disagree with recognizing Russia's annexation of Crimea.
This decision may have consequences for other conflicts in Eastern Europe and make NATO countries more vulnerable to Russia. The discussed agreement may also provoke disagreements among NATO leaders.
Ukraine and the EU have a unified position - Crimea is Ukrainian territory and its sovereignty cannot be questioned.
Finally, this agreement could lead to a diplomatic crisis for NATO, which has always supported the non-recognition of Russia's control over Crimea.
