According to Espreso.tv: As of 4:00 PM on October 16, Ukraine’s General Staff released a battlefield update detailing shelling and combat engagements. In the Sumy region, shelling was reported in the following settlements:
- Ryzhnivka
- Seredyna-Buda
- Kucherivka
- Korenok
- Ulanove
- Volfyne
- Neskuchne
- Sumy
- Chernatske
- Vovkivka
- Sopych
- Rohizne
- Yastrubshchyna
In the Chernihiv region, the Zarichchia area came under fire.
On the Northern Slobozhanskyi and Kursk fronts, 35 shelling incidents occurred, including two involving multiple rocket launchers. In the Kupiansk sector, Ukrainian positions faced an attack near the city of Kupiansk. The Lyman direction saw four enemy attempts to advance, with one firefight still ongoing.
In the Sloviansk sector, Ukrainian troops halted a single enemy push toward Kryva Luka. On the Kostiantynivka front, eight attacks took place near Kostiantynivka, Ivanopillia, Pleshchiivka, and Stepanivka, with three clashes still underway. The Pokrovsk sector recorded 19 attempts to dislodge Ukrainian forces, four of which remain active battles.
In the Oleksandrivka direction, three enemy attempts to advance occurred near Vorone. The Huliaipole sector saw 15 hostile assaults, with one engagement continuing. In the Orikhiv direction, a single assault was reported near Shcherbaky. On the Dnipro front, Ukrainian forces stopped one offensive action toward the Antonivskyi Bridge.
