Eruption in Ethiopia: mass cancellation of flights due to volcanic ash.
The volcanic eruption in Ethiopia has caused the cancellation of flights
According to The Sun: Volcanic ash has led to a mass cancellation of flights following a powerful eruption in Ethiopia. The previously dormant volcano Haile Gubbi has begun erupting for the first time in its history, spewing massive clouds of ash up to nine miles high.
Airlines have been forced to cancel flights, including Air India which canceled 11 flights on Monday and Tuesday and conducted additional security checks on other routes.
“This is a dangerous situation, and we must adhere to all safety measures,” the airline representatives noted.
The eruption has caused significant problems in air travel, and experts say the repercussions will be felt for several days.
Currently, the Ethiopian authorities are actively monitoring the situation and trying to assess the extent of the damage caused by the eruption.
This event marks the first eruption of the Haile Gubbi volcano in its entire history, and the situation in the region remains tense. Authorities are urging the populace to remain cautious, as the volcanic ash emissions could negatively impact residents' health and the local ecology. Only time will tell what consequences this natural disaster will have on aviation infrastructure and the residents of Ethiopia.
