In Odesa region, an agent of the Russian Federation was detained: he prepared terrorist acts and arson of infrastructure.
A resident of the Odesa region was preparing to set fire to infrastructure facilities in the region on behalf of the Russian Federation. However, he was exposed and detained. The agent faces life imprisonment.
This was reported by the Office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine.
Details of the case
A 22-year-old resident of the Odesa region was paid to assist a representative of the Russian Federation in carrying out subversive activities against Ukraine. His tasks included setting fire to infrastructure facilities to cause harm to economic and national security.
After ensuring the reliability and readiness of the Odesa resident to carry out various tasks, the representative of the Russian Federation contacted him via video call and helped him to produce explosives for committing a terrorist act. After that, the accused assembled an improvised device, which they planned to place in a location with a large gathering of people to carry out an explosion.
What punishment is threatened
The accused has been informed of the suspicion according to Part 2 of Article 111, Part 1 of Article 14, Part 2 of Article 258, Part 2 of Article 194, Part 1 of Article 263, and Part 2 of Article 263-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (treason, preparation for a terrorist act, intentional damage to someone else's property, acquisition and storage of weapons, as well as illegal production of explosives). He faces punishment in the form of life imprisonment.
The suspect was remanded into custody without determining the amount of bail.
