Forecast of buckwheat prices in Ukraine

According to TSN.ua: It is expected that the price of buckwheat in Ukraine in 2026 may reach 40-42 hryvnias per kilogram due to inflation and rising production costs. Economist Volodymyr Chizh points out that the increase in the price of buckwheat may amount to a total of 8-10% compared to last year, indicating further increases in the price of this staple food product.

By the end of 2025, the grain had risen in price by a third compared to 2024, reaching a level of 37-38 hryvnias per kilogram. The main factors putting pressure on prices are:

  • increased production costs,
  • high energy costs,
  • complicated logistics.

These factors significantly influence the formation of prices for food products in Ukraine.

Other food products

In addition to buckwheat, a substantial increase in the price of fish and seafood is also expected in 2026. This week, an increase in the price of white cabbage has been recorded in Ukraine's vegetable segment. In the context of slowing inflation rates compared to last year, these changes in pricing policy may have a significant impact on the consumer market.

The rise in prices for buckwheat and other products in Ukraine reflects general trends in the economy, particularly the increase in production and logistics costs. This may lead to changes in consumer habits as people may start looking for alternative products or reduce consumption. It is important to monitor these trends, as they may have far-reaching consequences for food security and the economy of the country as a whole.
