Guterres: China plays a critical role in supporting international law.
According to inkorr.com: The United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres emphasized China's important role in strengthening international relations in the modern world. He made this statement during a meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping in Tianjin at the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit.
'China has made a significant contribution to the protection of international law and ensuring its supremacy, and at a time when multilateralism is under criticism, China's support is a critically important element for maintaining multilateralism,' noted Guterres.
Guterres also noted that modern politics may look more like a show than serious diplomatic efforts, and expressed gratitude to China for its support of the multilateral system.
China's Responsibilities to the UN
In response, Xi Jinping stated that China would remain a reliable partner of the UN and continue to contribute to stability and certainty in international relations.
'China is ready to deepen cooperation with the United Nations, supports its central role in international affairs, and will fulfill its commitments to uphold peace in the world and promote development and prosperity,' emphasized Xi Jinping.
This meeting took place in the context of the SCO summit, where leaders from over 20 participating countries and international organizations gathered. The Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs has so far refrained from commenting on the possible involvement in providing security guarantees to Ukraine, leaving open questions about Beijing's role in international conflicts.
The meeting discussed important aspects of supporting international law and cooperation between states. Both leaders agreed on the need to continue efforts to support global stability and prosperity.
China's cooperation with the UN is an important aspect in the context of modern international challenges. China's position on the world stage can significantly influence the development of events, especially in regions where conflicts exist. Working with international organizations such as the UN can be key to solving global problems and ensuring peace.
