These measures have been introduced to help stabilize the power grid, which has been severely damaged by Russian attacks on Ukraine's energy infrastructure.
Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov expressed concern over the duration of the outages, stating: 'Power cuts lasting 15 to 19 hours a day are unacceptable.'
His remarks underscore the severity of the situation facing the city's inhabitants. Local authorities are calling for public understanding and patience, as these measures are deemed necessary to ensure the stable operation of the energy system.
The electricity supply issues in Kharkiv reflect broader problems within Ukraine's energy system, stemming from the ongoing war and other factors. Prolonged blackouts threaten not only the daily lives of residents but also the functioning of businesses and essential social services. Authorities continue to work on resolving the crisis, but the situation is expected to remain difficult until stability in the national power grid is restored.
