Drone Strikes Hit Kharkiv: Residential Buildings and a Gas Station Targeted by Russian Forces.
Attacks on Kharkiv on June 28, 2023
According to UATV: On June 28, 2023, Russian occupation forces launched drone strikes on Kharkiv, hitting residential buildings and a gas station. The first incident occurred around 8:00 AM when a Russian drone struck a multi-story apartment building in the city's Kyiv district at the 10th floor level. A 59-year-old woman suffered an acute stress reaction as a result, and medical personnel provided her with all necessary care. According to Oleh Syniehubov, medical assistance was delivered promptly.
Second Incident and Series of Attacks
At 11:30 AM the same day, a Russian Shahed drone hit a gas station in Kharkiv's Shevchenkivskyi district. One man was injured in this attack. Ihor Terekhov reported that no damage to residential buildings was recorded in this instance.
During the night of June 28, Russia also attacked Ukraine using:
- two Zircon/Onyx anti-ship missiles,
- six Iskander-M/S-400 ballistic missiles,
- 142 attack unmanned aerial vehicles.
Strikes were recorded at 11 locations. This series of attacks underscores the ongoing threat posed by Russian forces to civilian infrastructure in Ukraine.
These events highlight the escalation of military operations in Ukraine, particularly in Kharkiv, where Russian attacks on civilian targets continue. It is important to note that such strikes are typically aimed at destabilizing the region and increasing psychological pressure on the population. Emergency medical services have been responding quickly to the aftermath of the attacks, but risks to civilians remain high. This pattern of targeting non-military sites has drawn widespread condemnation from international observers and human rights organizations.
