Police express concerns that he may have been kidnapped and forced to work at fraudulent call centers in Myanmar.

Surveillance video from the hotel lobby shows Laurence exiting through the front doors with a backpack on his back and a gym bag in hand. He was last captured on camera around 3:30 PM on September 27.

The boy, who has computer skills, has left his parents worried by not getting in touch.

Thai police have launched an investigation into his disappearance, suspecting that he may have been abducted by Chinese gangs.

Laurence's mother, Gulnara Honor, lives with his father in the Thai province of Chonburi. She commented:

“Laurence left home on September 26, and we have been unable to contact him. I filed a report with the police in Pattaya. I checked my son's emails and found records of his movements in Kanchanaburi province, which is very concerning.”

Laurence is described as “a very shy and quiet boy, but he is excellent with computers.”

“I am afraid that he may have interacted with people online and was deceived into getting into one of these fraudulent centers in Myanmar, from which people are not released,”
his mother added.

According to reports, Laurence attempted to cross the border into Myanmar, but border officers stopped him as the crossing was closed due to conflict in the country. He also tried to climb over the railing but was stopped again.

Witnesses told police that they saw Laurence hitchhiking in the evening, and later he was picked up by a passerby. Police are currently searching for this person.

Police are actively cooperating with the military in the search for the British teenager.

Laurence tried to cross the border into Myanmar

Colonel Santi Pitaksakul, head of the Sangklaburi police station, noted:

“The boy's mother says she still has hope.”
He also added that the last time she was able to contact him was when he was already in Sangklaburi. Someone later saw him near Sai Yok waterfall as he was hitchhiking towards the border. The colonel also reported that the driver who picked him up has not been found yet.

Police suspect that Laurence may have crossed the border and are now cooperating with the military to coordinate with Myanmar in search of him. Reports are coming in of possible sightings of him in Myanmar, and they are waiting for confirmation.

The colonel also emphasized that the reasons for attempting to cross the border could be varied:

“He might have been convinced; it doesn’t seem like he was just going there for tourism,”
he said.

A detailed analysis of Laurence's route is crucial for understanding whether he may have ended up in a casino or other places.

“We need to determine if he crossed any natural barriers, possibly with the help of people from Myanmar who know these routes well,”

he concluded.
