Record Drone Assault on Kherson: Over 3,700 Attacks in a Single Week.
Current Situation in Kherson
According to Espreso.tv: The southern city of Kherson is enduring relentless drone strikes, with Deputy Head of the Kherson Regional Military Administration Anton Samoilenko describing the situation as extremely difficult. In the past seven days, more than 3,700 attacks were recorded, of which Ukrainian forces managed to intercept 3,500 enemy drones—an impressive 93% interception rate. These attacks are part of a broader escalation in the region, which has been a frequent target since the start of the full-scale war.
Anton Samoilenko stated: 'The situation in Kherson is truly challenging.'
In addition to the drone onslaught, Kherson is also under heavy artillery fire. On May 6, Deputy Head of the Kherson City Military Administration Mykhailo Lynetskyi reported ongoing Russian artillery bombardments. He noted that the time between a shell being fired and its impact is no more than 10 seconds, significantly heightening the danger for local residents.
Anton Samoilenko emphasized that 'this work never stops.'
The region remains on edge as local authorities continue implementing measures to protect the civilian population. The high intensity of drone attacks underscores the volatile security environment, even as Ukrainian air defenses show remarkable effectiveness. However, with artillery strikes still posing a constant threat, civilians face severe risks. Officials stress that the situation can shift rapidly, requiring sustained vigilance and quick responses to ensure public safety.
