Puy Du Fou is a theme park that does not feature conventional rides, instead offering live performances and reconstructions of iconic historical events.
Puy du Fou Puy du FouThis popular attraction is already operational in France and Spain, regularly ranking as a top visited site. Now, its expansion in the UK is planned. Documents have been submitted for a 370-acre site located near Bucknell in Bicester.
The park will feature four "villages", each showcasing different stages of history, as well as 13 live shows.
Moreover, plans include the construction of three hotels, each themed according to different periods of British history, as well as a conference center.
As the park will primarily be outdoors, it will operate from April to October.
Thanks to its convenient location near the M40 motorway, it will be easily accessible for visitors. Should the project receive approval, the first phases of the park are expected to open in 2029 with an anticipated attendance of around 1.5 million people per year.
The project also promises to inject £500 million into the local economy and create thousands of new jobs.
Comments from the CEO of Puy du Fou
Olivier Strebelle, CEO of Puy du Fou, noted:
“We have wanted to come to the UK for many years”.
He added:
“Britain has such a rich, colorful, and fascinating history, and the location we have chosen near Bicester is the perfect spot to create a world-class attraction that will bring this history to life”.
Ticket prices have not yet been announced, but if they are similar to those in France, it is expected that they will range between £24 and £38.
Puy du Fou first opened in 1978 and ranks second in popularity among attractions in France, only behind Disneyland Paris. It also opened in Spain in 2019.

The opening of Kynren – The Storied Lands is also on the horizon, where shows based on various historical eras, including Vikings and Victorian England, will take place.
The first phase will include five shows and interactive experiences.
CEO of Kynren, Anna Varneka, noted that this new multimillion-pound project is a “turning point” for the UK.
