Germany is preparing a comprehensive arms package for Ukraine in 2026: Details

According to ТСН: Germany has become the main supplier of military aid to Ukraine, taking this role instead of the USA. Although the exact amounts of supplies are not disclosed, public information suggests a significant arms package for the year 2026.

Germany's Priorities

According to publication data, Berlin's main task is to strengthen the Ukrainian air defense system. Over the course of the year, the air forces are expected to receive at least three additional batteries of the IRIS-T SLM air defense system, as well as Skyranger 35 air defense systems based on the Leopard 1. To support aviation and the FrankenSAM systems, the transfer of a large shipment of AIM-9 missiles and hundreds of thousands of munitions for the Gepard and Skynex systems is planned.

Support for Artillery and Production

Moreover, Ukrainian artillery will receive significant reinforcement. For the year 2026, full deployment of divisions of the latest RCH 155 radar systems, which will be integrated into the Kropiva management system, is planned. Germany will also continue financing Ukrainian production, providing 750 million euros for the manufacture of approximately 200 self-propelled howitzers 'Bohdana' based on Zetros, as well as the delivery of up to a thousand Zetros trucks and shells of calibers 155 mm and 122 mm.

Drones and Medical Assistance

Drones and innovative technologies remain crucial for cooperation. Germany plans, in addition to the known reconnaissance drones Vector, to supply combat drones from Helsing and will continue funding for Ukrainian kamikaze drones with long ranges, particularly 'Ljutyy'. In the field of armored vehicles, the arrival of the first five BMP Lynx is expected, while in the medical field, mobile hospitals for the rescue of the wounded are anticipated.

Berlin also plans to continue participation in the PURL program and will provide funding for the acquisition of American GMLRS missiles and Patriot systems for Ukrainian needs.

Previously, Chancellor Friedrich Merz stated that German troops would not be deployed in Ukraine even after a ceasefire is reached.

Additionally, European officials report the possible arrival of 15,000 to 30,000 Western peacekeeping troops in Ukraine. The majority of the contingent will be provided by France and Great Britain, while Turkey will ensure security in the Black Sea.

This positions Germany in a crucial role in supporting Ukraine in the military sphere. The provision of weapons and equipment will be an important step to strengthen Ukrainian forces against new challenges. At the same time, the participation of peacekeeping troops from other countries may help stabilize the situation in the region and increase the security level for the civilian population.
