A floating pool with a sauna is planned to open in London: what it will look like.
An Olympic-sized outdoor swimming pool will appear at Canary Wharf
According to The Sun: Canary Wharf has announced plans to create an outdoor swimming pool that will meet Olympic standards.
This pool will operate year-round and will be equipped with a sauna, clubroom, dining areas, and a bar.
New planning images show a new swimming pool and saunas in London canarywharf.com canarywharf.comThe pool will have six lanes, will be 50 meters long with a fixed depth of 1.3 meters, and will be located in the Eden Dock area.
The project shows that four saunas will appear next to the pool, along with relaxation and picnic areas.
Next to the lido, there will also be a clubroom and establishments offering food and drinks where visitors can relax after swimming.
The pool will be separated from the River Thames and purified naturally. Water quality in Eden Dock is constantly rated as 'Excellent' by EU standards.
Eden Dock has already become a popular spot for open swimming in the UK, and the new facility is planned to be a health and wellness center in the city.
The design and construction are being carried out by Sea Lanes, which also participated in the creation of Sea Lanes Brighton—the UK's first national open swimming center.
The planning application will be submitted to the London Borough of Tower Hamlets in September 2025.
“A year after the opening of Eden Dock, we are taking another bold step forward,” said Shobi Khan, CEO of the Canary Wharf Group.
“Sea Lanes Canary Wharf will build on the success of Eden Dock as a unique health center.”

If the plans are approved, the lido named Sea Lanes Canary Wharf will open in the summer of 2026.
The pool will be located in Eden Dock in Canary Wharf, which opened to the public on October 2, 2024.
Eden Dock is described as “a water oasis in the heart of Canary Wharf,” featuring water islands, marine habitats, artistic installations, and various water activities such as paddleboarding and kayaking, as well as yoga classes by the water.
This center in Canary Wharf was created to recreate a piece of nature in the city and already has an open water facility.
Swimmers can dive into Eden Dock with a view of One Canada Square and Newfoundland, although the facility does not operate year-round.
The open water location has restrooms, changing rooms, and an outdoor shower with hot water for rinsing off.
A swimming session at Eden Dock typically costs £8-£9.50.
Throughout the year, numerous events are also held at Eden Dock, such as open-air film screenings and live music performances.
There are also sports areas, such as mini-golf and table tennis, as well as organized running clubs.

The opening of the new swimming pool in Canary Wharf will be an important step in developing water activities in London. The project will allow city residents to enjoy an active lifestyle without the comfort boundaries typical of indoor pools. The swimming pool is expected to become not only a sports facility but also a social hub for residents to meet and socialize.
The initiative also highlights the importance of creating green and water zones in urban environments, contributing to improving the quality of life in a large city where more and more people seek active recreation outdoors.
