Unique Hotel at Orlando Airport: Pool with a View of Runways
No one could have predicted that one of the highlights during our vacation in Orlando would be a hotel at the airport.
However, this hotel at Orlando Airport, located at Orlando International Airport in the USA, easily competes with Disney and Universal for their money.
The Hyatt Regency Orlando International Airport overlooks both Disney World and Universal Studios shops.
The hotel has a total of 455 rooms, some with views of the runway.
The hotel was opened as The Peabody Orlando in 1986 and underwent a major renovation and expansion in 2010, adding a 31-story tower and a pool.
Since Orlando is the ninth busiest airport in the USA, it accommodates nearly 60 million passengers each year.
Thus, the Hyatt hotel, with its 445 rooms - some overlooking the runway - receives many visitors, making it a dream for plane spotting enthusiasts.
The highlight is the rooftop pool and sun terrace, located on the sixth floor, overlooking the runways.
My family and I booked the hotel as we had a flight at 7 AM to Boston, and we wanted the morning check-in process to go as smoothly as possible.
When we arrived at the hotel, we were pleasantly surprised by the receptionist when he mentioned the 'outdoor pool'.
Unfortunately, for us, the pool is open until 11 PM, so there was plenty of time to drop off our bags and grab a snack first.
The hotel has an appealing restaurant - McCoy's Bar & Grill - but with airport food right downstairs, we decided to grab the last serving of orange chicken from Panda Express before leaving Orlando.
Later, on the poolside terrace, there were plenty of opportunities for those who know their Boeings from their Bombardiers to use binoculars to spot their favorite planes, and we had the chance to swim while watching the planes take off.
For my husband, the highlight was the running track with views of the runway, as the hotel also has a dedicated running path around the rooftop area with more stunning views than the pool.
Since we had an early departure, we couldn't stay by the pool as long as we wanted, so if we were to return, we would just make sure to check in as early as possible to fully take advantage of the swimming and plane spotting opportunities.
One night for our family of four cost us £200, which is more expensive than other airport hotels in the area, but the convenience of its location just steps from the check-in desks and the bonus of the rooftop pool makes it worthwhile.
Weeks after our return and recalling all the fun at Disney and even the bustling Epic Universe, the Hyatt hotel is still discussed as one of our top adventures.
Travel is often about adventures and new experiences, and the Hyatt Regency Orlando International Airport at Orlando Airport provided travelers with unforgettable experiences. The hotel, with its location and unique offerings, has become a true gem for tourists seeking vibrant experiences from their journey. Every guest at the hotel has the opportunity to combine relaxation with plane spotting and feel a part of the airport atmosphere, making their stay incredibly interesting and memorable.
