Portable Steam Iron for £28: The Perfect Travel Gadget.
The Perfect Handheld Steamer for Travel
According to The Sun: There’s nothing worse than arriving for a long-awaited holiday and discovering that your belongings in your suitcase are tangled, wrinkled, and in need of restoration.
This also applies to that little black dress bought for a night at the restaurant – an essential part of the holiday.
My handheld steamer costs just £28 on Amazon, and I now always take it with me SuppliedMeet the handheld steamer that collapses.
Never owning an iron, I thought a steamer would be the perfect solution for my 'adult' clothes.
However, I never expected this little pink device to become my secret weapon for ensuring my holiday wardrobe is perfect.
At £28.04 on Amazon, my compact steamer consists of two parts – the head and the handle.
The handle easily detaches and attaches but also serves as the water reservoir needed to create steam.
Steam is released with the push of a button, and one water charge is enough to freshen up two or three pieces.
There’s no hot water, so there’s no need to hold it at a distance for fear of burning yourself.
The steamer head also has a removable cap if you just want to press an item.
The device heats up quickly to 120°C in just 45 seconds.
So within minutes, all wrinkles disappear from clothes.
Turn it off, wait five minutes, and it becomes cool again.
All of this fits in a small pouch, ready to be moved in a backpack, bag, or suitcase.
Instead of paying high prices for laundry in a hotel or hoping the dress will smooth out on the bathroom door during a shower, the steamer takes up less space in my suitcase than a pair of shoes.
Now, when I'm on holiday, I use it for all my clothing – t-shirts come out clean, and skirts look elegant again.
Evenings now look better as my dresses no longer have wrinkles and awkward creases.
It heats up in 45 seconds, and in one minute you can steam a full item, like my dress above (left - before; right - after)There are many different options on Amazon, but mine is the 'homeasy Clothes Steamer'.
But that is not the only good option; many other models offer the same thing – and some even have more features.
Just make sure to choose a model that disassembles, as one-piece options can be bulky and hard to pack.
Don’t waste a lot of money – skip the expensive Tefal options at £71 and choose something half the price.
For example, the 'G6 Clothes Steamer' costs £26, and the 'Philips 3000 Series Handheld Steamer' is £32, both with good reviews.
And its collapsible design makes it easy to fit in any bag or suitcase
