Alaska: How a cruise to the glaciers became the best trip of my life.
Impressions from the cruise in Alaska
According to The Sun: Now I understand what MAGA means - 'Make America Glacial Again'.
Although I travel a lot, Alaska impressed me so much that I have never seen anything like it before. It is a true giant, and the best way to experience its scale is from the sea.
SuppliedIf you are planning a cruise through the Inside Passage of Alaska, I recommend choosing Holland America Line, which has been sailing these waters for almost 80 years. The company has a great reputation for sustainability, working closely with organizations that protect the environment and indigenous peoples to promote local culture.
We set out on a cruise aboard the Nieuw Amsterdam on the 'Glacial Discoveries North' route, visiting several stunning ports such as Ketchikan, Juneau, and Skagway, as well as making our way to Whittier.
Food and Service
Onboard the ship, you can enjoy excellent food – both in the main restaurant and in the Lido area, where a wide selection of cuisines is offered with friendly service.
“Our 'humble' cabin with a spa steward had a bathtub and floor-to-ceiling windows opening onto a balcony, perfect for admiring the views – that’s Alaska.”
My wife was thrilled with the Morimoto By Sea restaurant, but for me, the best remained the steakhouse onboard.
Service is always with a smile aboard the Nieuw AmsterdamSupplied
Wildlife of Alaska
The cruise offers numerous opportunities for wildlife watching: here you can see impressive humpback whales, dolphins, sea lions, and even little bear cubs. During our trip from Juneau, we saw an orca, and it became one of the highlights of our journey.

Finally, we were captivated by the glaciation. The ship entered the Glacier Bay National Park, where the majestic glaciers amazed us with the silence, only broken by the loud crack of ice breaking.
This natural spectacle impresses with its beauty and leaves unforgettable impressions.
A cruise in Alaska is a unique opportunity to experience the beauty of untouched nature, learn more about its ecosystem, and enjoy local culture. Leaving the port, you not only gain aesthetic pleasure but also become part of a larger story of nature conservation that has been ongoing here for many years. Such journeys not only inspire but also provoke thoughts about our attitude toward the environment.
