Strange Noises in Cars Cost Drivers $540: How to Avoid Expensive Repairs.
Sounds heard under the hood of a car can be a sign of a serious problem, no matter how insignificant they may initially seem. Drivers who ignore these sounds risk spending extra money on repairs.
According to a study by Autotrader, most drivers misdiagnose car problems when they hear strange noises. This leads to additional repair costs averaging $540. Even when drivers are confident in their knowledge, they often make mistakes.
The study examined drivers' reactions to real car sounds, with over 70% of participants incorrectly identifying the cause of the troubling noise.
Consequences of Delays
The research also showed that one in three drivers delayed car repairs, potentially leading to additional costs of over $900. Men were more likely to postpone repairs compared to women, which could cost them dearly.
Drivers of different car brands react differently to strange noises. Some immediately consult specialists, while others may delay for a longer time. Younger drivers typically seek advice online or from friends, while older ones spend a lot of time researching before seeking help.
Increasing attention to strange sounds that cars may emit can save drivers significant money and prevent serious car issues in the future. The study shows that diagnosing problems by sounds can be complex, so it's advisable to consult specialists at any doubts.Read also
