Turkish father lives in a cave after the earthquake: he is being evicted.
Modern rocky living space
According to The Sun: A father, who lives in modern Paleolithic with a functional kitchen in a cave house, is forced to leave his dreamy dwelling. 55-year-old Ali Bozoglan has been living in a cave on the hillside of the Yailika area in the Samandag district of Hatay province in Turkey since the devastating earthquake in 2023.
Life in the cave
Ali lost his home due to the natural disaster but found refuge in a natural shelter. He has everything he needs for a comfortable life in his rocky dwelling, including a kitchen.
“I have no choice but to live here, as I cannot afford to rent an apartment after the earthquake,” says Ali.
Eviction demands
Despite his desire to stay, local authorities have decided to evict Ali from the cave.
“This is my home, and I remember the moment I moved here. I cannot just leave this place,” he added.
Protest and support
Ali plans to appeal the eviction decision and hopes for community support. His story has resonated significantly among local residents who advocate for his right to housing.
Ali Bozoglan's situation highlights the housing issue in regions affected by earthquakes. People face the choice between safe but unconventional housing and uncertainty in the real estate market. Seeking justice in his case may become an important step for others who are also fighting for their right to a roof over their heads.
