Iran Vows to Continue Uranium Enrichment Despite U.S. Military Threats.
Iran's Stance on Uranium Enrichment
According to UATV: Iran has declared it will not abandon its uranium enrichment program, even in the face of U.S. military threats. Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi emphasized that Tehran considers uranium enrichment an inalienable right and will continue the practice. He also stated that Iran is not intimidated by the deployment of U.S. naval forces to the Persian Gulf.
This statement follows new U.S. initiatives, where President Donald Trump has, for the first time, involved the country's military leadership in key negotiations concerning Iran and Russia. These actions have caused concern in Tehran, yet the Iranian side continues to insist on its nuclear ambitions. Minister Araqchi expressed a readiness to negotiate with the U.S., but stressed that uranium enrichment will remain a priority for Iran. The 2015 nuclear deal, from which the U.S. withdrew, permitted Iran limited enrichment for civilian purposes.
Tensions Over the Nuclear Program
The situation surrounding Iran's nuclear program remains tense, particularly in light of new U.S. initiatives that could lead to a further escalation of the conflict. Iran's firm position on enrichment indicates the country has no intention of making concessions, which could complicate diplomatic efforts by the international community.
Future negotiations between the U.S. and Iran may determine not only Iran's nuclear policy, but also the overall balance of power in the region.
