Italy offers a new format of security guarantees for Ukraine: what is its essence.
The Prime Minister of Italy proposes a new format of security guarantees for Ukraine
Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni has put forward a new format of security guarantees for Ukraine. According to this plan, allies must make a decision to support Kyiv within 24 hours in the event of a new military attack. This was reported by Bloomberg, citing FREEdom.
This initiative is a mechanism for collective assistance, similar to Article 5 of the NATO Charter, but without Ukraine's official membership in the Alliance.
The new format includes rapid provision of defensive and economic assistance, as well as strengthening the Armed Forces of Ukraine or applying sanctions against Russia. However, it remains unclear whether this plan will involve sending troops to Ukrainian territory.
