According to Espreso.tv: Ukraine's government has introduced a standardized procedure for engaging international partners in joint competitions under the Brave programs, which are designed to advance defense technology. Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko announced the approval of this unified framework, aimed at streamlining cooperation with global allies in this critical sector.

Key Programs and Focus Areas

The initiative encompasses several programs, including:

  • UNITE Brave NATO
  • Brave Norway
  • Brave France
  • Brave Germany
  • Brave Lithuania

Eligible participants include Ukrainian companies, developers, and startups operating under foreign jurisdictions. Brave International is structured around three main pillars:

  • scouting for emerging technologies,
  • securing funding for defense startups,
  • integrating Ukrainian innovations into the global marketplace.

Additionally, plans call for establishing joint grant funds on a parity basis.

A mandatory step will be testing all developments in Ukraine through the Test in Ukraine platform. The first round of international Brave1 competitions is expected to launch shortly. In April, German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius signaled his country's interest in potentially joining Brave1, noting significant opportunities for collaborative growth in the defense industry. Earlier, in March, Ukraine and Lithuania announced the creation of a bilateral defense innovation platform.

'This gives the green light for a rapid rollout of joint competitions,' emphasized Yulia Svyrydenko.

This approval of a standardized cooperation framework under the Brave programs marks a pivotal step for Ukraine as it seeks to bolster its defense capabilities and integrate into global technology ecosystems. It will enable Ukrainian firms not only to access cutting-edge technologies but also to attract additional funding—a critical advantage given the current geopolitical landscape. The upcoming Brave1 competitions are expected to drive innovation in the domestic defense industry and deepen ties with international allies.
