100 Cities in 15 Years: 9 Tips from an Experienced Traveler on How to Save on Travel.
According to The Sun: Over the 15 years of traveling, I have visited more than 100 cities around the world. During my journeys, I learned how to do this inexpensively.
Here are nine tips on how to save money, from free tours and attractions to finding cheap hotels.
1. Fly to Alternative Airports
When choosing a travel destination, it's worth paying attention to less popular cities. For example, you can fly to Timișoara in Romania for £14.99.
Also, look for business hotels on weekends; they will be most affordable at this time. Additionally, take advantage of free walking tours.
2. Look for Business Hotels on Weekends
By booking a hotel in a business district, you can save a significant amount of money. For instance, I successfully found a hotel in Tokyo for £450 since it was conveniently located.
3. Take Advantage of Free Walking Tours
Start exploring the city with a free walking tour. This will not only help you navigate the area but will also save you money.
4. Try Apps for Food Savings
For example, using the app Too Good To Go, you can try exquisite dishes at a reasonable price. Also, don’t overlook hostels; they can be very affordable and comfortable.
5. Visit Popular Attractions Before Closing
Many attractions offer reduced or even free admissions before closing. Plan your visit on the first Sunday of the month to take advantage of this.
6. Don’t Delay Booking Your Last Flight Home
When booking the last flight or train home, you risk losing money and time. It's better to plan your departure in advance.
7. Use Cashback Websites
While this may not save you money during the trip, you can earn a cash bonus after visiting the city. Some websites even offer cashback on flight bookings, hotels, and other services.
In this article, an experienced traveler shares useful tips on how to save money while traveling. From alternative airports and business hotels on weekends to free tours and using food-saving apps, these tips will help you travel more budget-friendly without limiting your enjoyment of the trip.
