Probable beheading of a Ukrainian prisoner: prosecution initiated investigation.
Ukrainian law enforcement agencies have initiated an investigation into the probable beheading of a Ukrainian serviceman by Russian army representatives. This was reported by the Office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine.
“The Donetsk Regional Prosecutor's Office has initiated a pre-trial investigation in a criminal proceeding on the fact of violation of laws and customs of war, combined with intentional killing (part 2 of article 438 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine)”, the report says.
The Prosecutor General's Office noted that investigative and search actions are currently being carried out, during which the circumstances of the execution are being studied to identify the persons involved in this crime: “In the framework of the criminal proceedings, orders and requests were issued to the relevant competent services and institutions”.
“The criminal regime continues its policy of destroying the Ukrainian people, demonstrating its utmost cruelty and cynical violation of the values and norms of the civilized world. Our goal is to find and punish every person involved in these crimes. We need to show the world the cruelty of the occupiers and respond decisively to every such case. Only together can we punish this pain”, emphasized Prosecutor General Andrii Kostin.
Let us recall that the Russian invaders probably executed an unarmed Ukrainian prisoner of war whose hands were tied with tape. General Lubinets emphasizes that such actions by the Russians constitute a gross violation of the Geneva Convention on the Treatment of Prisoners of War.
