Kaja Kallas: Demanding territorial concessions from Ukraine is a dangerous game scripted by the Kremlin.
The European Union does not support the idea of allowing Russia a voice in security matters concerning Ukraine. According to the EU's high representative Kaja Kallas, concessions to the Kremlin are merely a dangerous game that should not be indulged. The only true guarantee of security is a strong Ukrainian army.
'Putin is playing his dangerous game, and trusting him is unacceptable. It is now clear: the Kremlin is not seeking negotiations or any substantive discussions. Russia has never complied with its commitments or signed agreements. Therefore, our task is to do everything possible to deprive it of resources to continue this war,' Kallas emphasized.
Ukraine, on the contrary, needs not only verbal guarantees but also real security measures, as painful experience with the Budapest Memorandum shows. It is important to have not just promises but legally binding commitments.
Kaja Kallas believes that regional conflicts now pose a threat to international security, and thus it is essential to avoid compromises that could undermine stability in the region. The main task is to protect the sovereignty and territorial integrity of countries, including Ukraine.Read also
