Canadians Speak Out on Proposal to Unite with the USA - YouGov Survey.
US President Donald Trump stated that Canada should be part of the USA. According to YouGov surveys conducted in the US and Canada, 77% of Canadians do not support this idea, while 15% support it. About 8% do not know how to respond.
According to the survey, at least 7 out of 10 Canadian citizens who voted for the main parties in the 2021 federal elections do not support unification with America.
Among Americans, support for the idea of uniting the USA and Canada is higher - about 36% support it, 42% are against, and 22% are still undecided.
Both Canadian and American citizens believe that unification would be difficult. Most Canadians (74%) and Americans (68%) think that becoming part of the USA would be challenging. 15% of the adult population in the USA and 13% of Canada's population hold the opposite opinion.
The majority of Canadians (68%) believe that uniting with the USA would not be the best for Canada, while 13% consider it a good idea.
The survey was conducted among 1,091 adult residents of the USA from January 16 to 22 with a margin of error of about 4%. In Canada, the survey was conducted among 1,030 adult Canadians from January 22 to 28 with a margin of error of about 3%.
