Security and Energy Top the List: Premier Candidate Koretskyi Outlines Government Priorities.
Serhiy Koretskyi Nominated for Prime Minister
According to Espreso.tv: Serhiy Koretskyi, the nominee for prime minister, is at the center of discussions regarding the new government’s main focus areas, which include security, energy, and support for socially vulnerable groups. On July 14, the government led by Yulia Svyrydenko resigned, and President Volodymyr Zelenskyy put forward Koretskyi as her replacement.
The Verkhovna Rada approved the resignation of Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko on July 14, which automatically dissolved the entire cabinet. According to Yaroslav Zheleznyak, this leadership change was driven by political factors. President Zelenskyy nominated Serhiy Koretskyi, whom Hetmantsev described as an experienced professional. Hetmantsev also noted that he has known Koretskyi for several years, dating back to Koretskyi’s time at Ukrnafta.
Hetmantsev emphasized that Koretskyi—who "essentially turned around a company on the verge of bankruptcy and made it profitable within six months"—is a strong candidate for the prime minister role.

Yaroslav Zheleznyak also supported Koretskyi’s candidacy, stating he believes Koretskyi is a suitable person to carry out the duties of the office.
New Government’s Key Priorities
Meanwhile, the incoming government is expected to concentrate on the following priorities:
- security
- energy
- support for socially vulnerable groups
These issues are pressing given the current challenges facing the country. It is anticipated that Serhiy Koretskyi will be able to implement these priorities during his tenure as prime minister.
The resignation of Yulia Svyrydenko’s government and the nomination of Serhiy Koretskyi signal an effort by the authorities to adapt to shifting political conditions and the difficulties the nation faces. The priorities set by the new government highlight the urgent need to address key socio-economic matters, especially amid the ongoing military conflict and economic instability. This appointment could represent a significant step toward strengthening state governance and supporting the population during a difficult period.
