Power Outage Strikes Kyiv and Region Again After March 22 Attack on Russian-Damaged Facility.
Kyiv and Region Face Blackout on March 22
According to Novyny.live: On March 22, 2023, a fresh emergency at a site already compromised by Russian shelling left parts of Kyiv and the Kyiv region without electricity. Crews are now working to restore power to affected areas. This incident is part of a broader pattern of infrastructure strain amid ongoing hostilities.
Residents in the Dnipro and Darnytsia districts of the capital, along with portions of the Brovary district, experienced the blackout. This outage follows a separate incident on March 21, 2023, when the left bank of Kyiv lost both electricity and water due to grid issues.
Aftermath and Response
Additionally, on March 22, a heat network leak on the Paton Bridge disrupted heating for several residential buildings. Representatives from DTEK stated:
“We are doing everything possible to overcome the consequences of the accident as quickly as possible. Thank you for your patience and support.” - DTEK
Energy workers continue active restoration efforts to bring power back to the impacted neighborhoods.
The power outages in Kyiv and the region are a direct result of the ongoing war in Ukraine, highlighting the vulnerability of critical infrastructure and the urgent need for rapid emergency response. Residents are advised to remain prepared for potential future disruptions as the conflict continues to strain the power grid.
