Death Toll in Kyiv Reaches 19 as City Declares Day of Mourning.
Search and Rescue Operations Underway in Kyiv
According to UATV: Following a Russian attack on July 6, rescue teams continue to search through the rubble of destroyed apartment buildings in Kyiv. The assault has left 19 people dead and 58 injured, including 7 children. On July 7, emergency workers in the Darnytskyi district recovered another body from the debris. The city has declared a day of mourning for the victims.
Rescue efforts are concentrated in the Podilskyi and Darnytskyi districts of Kyiv, as well as in the town of Vyshneve. More than 1,000 specialists from the State Emergency Service of Ukraine (SESU) and 250 pieces of equipment are involved in the response. In the broader Kyiv region, the attack killed 10 people and injured 48, with 20 requiring hospitalization.
Andriy Danik reported that 'the main forces are focused in two districts of the capital, Podilskyi and Darnytskyi.'
The search-and-rescue mission continues, aiming to find any survivors and provide aid to the wounded. This tragedy underscores the severity of the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, with the high casualty count highlighting the devastating impact of such strikes on local communities.
As relatives of the deceased and injured anxiously await updates on their loved ones, the community has rallied together in solidarity during this difficult time. Rescue operations are ongoing.
