Installation of the Record-Breaking Converter Station
According to ITC.ua — Техно: On July 23, China completed the installation of the world's largest converter station off the coast of Guangdong province. This converter station is a crucial component for integrating offshore renewable energy into the national grid, enabling efficient long-distance power transmission. The entire process took roughly seven hours. This offshore facility is designed to transmit approximately six billion kilowatt-hours of electricity each year, operating at a capacity of 2,000 megawatts and a voltage of 500 kilovolts.

The station's upper platform is massive:
- Length: 85.5 meters
- Width: 82.5 meters
- Height: 44 meters
- Weight: about 25,000 metric tons
The supporting structure beneath the platform measures:
- Length: 82 meters
- Width: 57 meters
- Height: 69 meters
- Weight: 17,000 metric tons
Eight foundation piles anchor the entire assembly to the seabed.
The new system is expected to cut carbon dioxide emissions by nearly five million metric tons annually, underscoring its role in boosting environmental sustainability and reducing greenhouse gas impact. This installation marks a significant advance in China's electrical infrastructure, enhancing energy efficiency and promoting cleaner power transmission.
