China Rolls Out Digital IDs for All Humanoid Robots: Here’s How the System Works.
China Introduces Digital Identity Codes for Robots
According to Novyny.live: China is launching a nationwide initiative to assign digital identification codes to every humanoid robot, enabling tracking across their entire lifecycle. The program, called the Humanoid Full Lifecycle Management Service Platform, has already begun issuing digital IDs to over 28,000 robots spanning more than 200 different models. This move is part of a broader effort to regulate the rapidly growing robotics sector, which includes both domestic manufacturers and international stakeholders.
System Structure and Purpose
The national system covers over 100 Chinese manufacturers of humanoid robots. Each robot's code consists of four parts:
- a two-digit national code,
- a four-digit manufacturer code,
- a six-digit model code,
- and a 17-digit serial number.
This structure not only uniquely identifies each robot but also enables oversight of its usage and maintenance.
The regulations apply to all participants in the supply chain, including manufacturers, service providers, sellers, users, and recycling companies. Notably, during testing of the G1 humanoid robot, temperatures reached -47.4°C, highlighting the extreme conditions these technologies can withstand. The introduction of digital passports for robots aims to improve management efficiency and ensure safe operation.
This initiative marks a significant step for China in advancing robotics and raising safety standards in the field. By systematizing and monitoring humanoid robots, the country hopes to boost their effective deployment across industries such as manufacturing, healthcare, and services. In doing so, China is not only refining its own technologies but also seeking to set new international norms for their use.
