China calls for peaceful negotiations regarding the war in Ukraine: what the official spokesperson said.
According to ТСН: China has expressed support for peaceful negotiations to resolve the 'Ukrainian crisis', which the official Beijing describes as a war initiated by Russia against Ukraine.
This was reported by the spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China, Mao Ning, at a briefing.
She noted that China is cooperating with both Russia and Ukraine in order to end the conflict as quickly as possible.
'From the very beginning of the crisis, China, as a permanent member of the UN Security Council and a responsible great power, has always engaged with all parties, including Ukraine and Russia, and played a constructive role in seeking a political resolution to the conflict,' said Mao Ning.
The spokesperson for China's foreign ministry emphasized that her country supports 'all efforts that contribute to peace'.
It was also recently revealed that the presidents of the USA and China held a phone conversation in which they discussed the situation in Ukraine.
Thus, China continues to actively monitor the developments in Ukraine and to define its position in the peaceful resolution. Cooperation with both sides of the conflict demonstrates Beijing's desire to play the role of a mediator in seeking ways to restore peace in the region.
