Turkey outlined conditions for sending its peacekeeping forces to Ukraine.
According to ТСН: The Turkish Ministry of National Defense explained the conditions under which the country may send its military to Ukraine as part of peacekeeping forces.
The ministry's statement refers to Turkey's readiness to participate in any constructive initiatives that contribute to a stable ceasefire in the war between Russia and Ukraine. The country is also actively supplying resources to the Coalition of Volunteers to achieve this goal.
Conditions for deploying troops
“In order for Turkey to send troops to Ukraine as part of peacekeeping forces, a ceasefire regime must first be established, and then the mission and the extent of contribution of each country must be clearly defined,”– emphasized the Ministry of Defense.
Turkey continues to lead military planning aimed at supporting security and stability in the Black Sea, as well as ensuring the safety of navigation after a ceasefire is achieved.
“In accordance with the principle of regional responsibility, Turkey has adhered to and will continue to adhere to the Montreux Convention, which ensures balance in the Black Sea and is of great importance for the security of the region, carefully, responsibly, impartially, and uncompromisingly,”– highlighted the ministry.
Coordination center for army interaction
In addition, Emmanuel Macron announced the establishment of a coordination center to improve interaction between the armies of Ukraine and the coalition. After the meeting of the 'Coalition of Willing', Ukraine, France, and Great Britain officially signed a declaration on the deployment of Western contingents on Ukrainian territory, which implies the formation of multinational forces to guarantee security.
Thus, Turkey demonstrates activity in international peacekeeping initiatives and also declares its responsibility for ensuring stability in the Black Sea. The creation of the coordination center indicates an attempt by the international community to strengthen efforts in supporting Ukraine amid an ongoing conflict.
