The commander of the 72nd brigade, defending Vuhledar, was dismissed.
Changes in the leadership of the 72nd Separate Mechanized Brigade
Ivan Vinnik, the commander of the 72nd Separate Mechanized Brigade, was dismissed. According to the Northern Operational Command, he will be promoted to a higher position. Currently, Ivan Vinnik is holding the defense near Vuhledar in the Donetsk region.
The dismissal of the commander was explained by his promotion and the need to pass on combat experience. Ivan Vinnik is described as an experienced and humane commander who cares for and respects his personnel.
It is noted that under the leadership of Ivan Vinnik, the brigade went through a difficult path but successfully held specific defense directions. For example, it repelled one of the largest offensives during the Russian-Ukrainian war in Bakhmut and Vuhledar in January-February 2023. The operational command wished Ivan Vinnik success in his further service.
It should be noted that People's Deputy Maryana Bezuhla expressed criticism regarding the decision to dismiss Vinnik. She urged careful consideration of such decisions by the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Oleksandr Syrskyi, and noted that they could negatively affect the unit.
Earlier it was reported that Russian occupiers are intensifying their actions to capture Kurakhove and Vuhledar in the Donetsk region to hinder the redeployment of Ukrainian troops to strengthen the defense of Pokrovsk.
