Zelensky revealed unresolved issues of the peace plan: Zaporizhzhia NPP and Donetsk region

Negotiations and positions regarding the Zaporizhzhia NPP

Zelensky spoke during a meeting with media representatives.

“The Russians want to keep the station for themselves. We are against this and have warned that in that case the station will not operate,” Zelensky noted.

The President also clarified that Russia may leave parts of Kharkiv, Sumy, and Dnipropetrovsk regions, but regarding Kherson and Zaporizhzhia 'they stand their ground'.

Regarding the Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant, the American side proposes to create a joint management format. Zelensky explained:

“If the Americans can take control of the plant and demilitarize the zone, then Ukraine will gain access to the plant. Otherwise, it is ours, while the Russians believe that the plant will remain theirs.”

He also emphasized that negotiations regarding the management, launch, and further management of the Zaporizhzhia NPP are ongoing, but final decisions have not yet been made.

In conclusion, Volodymyr Zelensky previously rejected the possibility of officially transferring Ukrainian territories to Russia in exchange for peace.

These comments from the president indicate the complexity of the current situation in the negotiations. Despite the concessions being offered, Ukraine's position remains firm regarding control over strategic facilities. Accordingly, developments in this area may significantly influence the further dynamics of the peace process.
