According to Espreso.tv: In an interview, journalist Maryna Danylyuk-Yarmolaieva delves into corruption within Ukraine’s defense sector, specifically focusing on the company Fire Point and its connections to businessman Timur Mindich. She stresses the critical need for transparency in public spending and accountability for corrupt practices. Commenting on the situation in November 2025, Yuriy Nikolov highlighted how these issues remain highly relevant.

The Fire Point Case Unfolds

Fire Point, a drone development firm, came under scrutiny after a corruption scheme involving overpriced egg purchases was uncovered. This investigation ultimately saved Ukraine 6.8 billion hryvnias. On April 28, Rustem Umerov was summoned to the Verkhovna Rada in connection with the so-called ‘Mindichgate’ case. The following day, April 29, he appeared before a temporary parliamentary investigative committee to discuss Fire Point. That same day, the public anti-corruption council warned of serious risks surrounding the company.

On April 30, Fire Point filed an appeal with the National Anti-Corruption Bureau, signaling leadership’s intent to address the situation. Serhiy Pashynskyi also played a key role, stating on May 4 that claims of Fire Point receiving 311 billion hryvnias were false. On May 17, Mariya Berlinska weighed in, affirming the need to purge the defense sector of corrupt schemes.

Maryna Danylyuk-Yarmolaieva remarked: ‘Speaking about corruption is absolutely necessary, as it helps cleanse Ukraine’s defense sphere.’

She further emphasized the importance of budget transparency, as it can prevent similar schemes in the future. The Fire Point case and others like it demand close attention and decisive action from both the state and society.
