Iceye plans investments in Poland amid growing demand

The Finnish company Iceye Oy, which manufactures satellites for Earth observation, intends to make new investments in Poland due to increased demand from countries seeking to expand their reconnaissance capabilities in space.

Iceye already has about 150 employees in Poland, where it operates a fleet of satellites and manages a research center, and the company plans to grow even more. A deal with the Polish military to purchase satellites worth approximately 200 million euros makes this country Iceye's second client from Eastern Europe after Ukraine.

'We plan to expand our products that will complement our radar solutions, responding to customer requests,' said the company's CEO Rafal Modrzewski.

Iceye employs synthetic aperture radar (SAR) technology in its satellite systems, which allows for high-quality imaging regardless of weather conditions. This technology is already being used in Ukraine for defense against possible invasion.

Iceye anticipates an increase in orders for its satellites this year as demand for reconnaissance systems grows. Even with a possible cessation of conflict in Ukraine, the demand for their projects is not expected to decrease, Modrzewski added.
