The State of the Currency Market in February 2026
According to TSN.ua: In February 2026, the Ukrainian hryvnia experienced only minor fluctuations against the US dollar and the euro. The dollar is expected to trade within a range of 42.80 to 43.40 UAH, while the euro is projected to stay between 50.70 and 51.30 UAH. Monitoring these exchange rates remains a key concern for many Ukrainians, given the ongoing economic pressures.
From February 1st to the 20th, the hryvnia traded against the dollar within a band of 42.81 to 43.29 UAH. Forecasts suggest the dollar rate will likely remain within 42.80–43.40 UAH by month's end. Regarding the euro, the hryvnia fluctuated between 50.76 and 51.25 UAH in February. If the dollar maintains a rate of 1.18–1.19 against the euro, the Ukrainian exchange rate for the euro is expected to hold within the 50.70–51.30 UAH range.
Expert Commentary and Economic Conditions
“The gradual devaluation of the national currency continues, but no sharp fluctuations are anticipated in the near term.”
Oleksiy Plotnikov, Economic Expert
He further emphasized that “there are no preconditions for a rapid strengthening of the hryvnia, as the war continues and economic risks remain high.” Additionally, he stated that “no significant shifts in the dollar-euro exchange rate are expected soon.”
Prices in January 2026 rose slowly—by 0.7% compared to 0.8% in December. While the currency market situation remains stable, underlying economic factors continue to cause concern among the population and analysts alike. This stability persists despite the challenging backdrop of prolonged conflict.
The stability of the currency market, amid a protracted war and high economic risks, indicates the national currency remains under persistent pressure. Although exchange rate fluctuations are currently small, economic conditions could influence the future situation, which is a source of public anxiety. It remains crucial to watch for changes in the domestic economy and external factors that may impact Ukraine's foreign exchange market.
