Latvia has banned entry for certain categories of Russian citizens.

New restrictions for Russians in Latvia

From now on, Russians are banned from entering Latvia if they own property near strategic sites. The country's State Security Service identified risks that these citizens create, so they have been placed on a 'black list'. Ukrainians will also need to provide more detailed explanations of their purpose for traveling to Latvia and provide other information; otherwise, they will face a fine.

'In some cases, risks posed by Russian citizens to Latvia's national security have been identified. These individuals have been included in the so-called black list or list of foreigners banned from entering the country.'

Other restrictions for Russian citizens were also discussed, including a ban on purchasing property in the country. However, these measures do not apply to citizens of the EU, NATO, OECD, EEA, Switzerland, and Brazil.

Latvia is taking additional measures to control the entry of certain categories of foreigners to ensure national security. These new rules will come into effect on September 1.
