In June 2025, a mother brought her 12-year-old son to the doctor, who diagnosed him with scarlet fever. However, the doctor allegedly misjudged the severity of the illness, failed to hospitalize the patient, and opted for a strategy of 'passive outpatient observation.' Investigators believe this decision may have led to the fatal outcome.

The doctor has been formally notified of suspicion under Part 2 of Article 140 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. This article stipulates a potential punishment of up to 5 years of imprisonment or restriction of liberty for up to 3 years.
