Bosnia prohibited the landing of the Hungarian minister's plane: the reason is support for separatists.
According to ТСН: The military aircraft carrying Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjártó was denied permission to land at Banja Luka Airport (Republic of Srpska, part of Bosnia and Herzegovina). This came as a result of a decision by Defense Minister Zukan Helez, who explained that the reason for the denial lies in the Hungarian authorities' open support for the politician Milorad Dodik, whose actions threaten the integrity of the country.
Zukan Helez clarified that his decision is based on the actions of Hungarian officials that contradict the interests of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban and Minister Szijjártó have repeatedly supported the former president of the Republic of Srpska, Milorad Dodik, known for his actions undermining the sovereignty of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Lack of explanations and transparency
Additionally, the Hungarian side did not provide any clear explanation regarding the use of the military aircraft for the minister's arrival, raising further questions about the purpose of his visit and transparency. Minister Helez emphasized that it is his duty to protect the constitutional order, laws, and interests of Bosnia and Herzegovina. He made the decision to prohibit the flight based on these principles.
He also noted that he would not approve this flight until full transparency and respect for the state are ensured. Thus, Sarajevo sent a clear political signal to Budapest about the inadmissibility of interference in internal affairs and support for separatist tendencies.
Recall that recently Szijjártó called on the EU to block funding for Ukraine, accusing the country of misappropriating funds by the 'military mafia'. The Hungarian minister also stated that 'time is not on Ukraine's side.'
This situation highlights the tension between Bosnia and Herzegovina and Hungary, as well as the importance of regional stability. The denial of landing for the plane could serve as a serious signal to Budapest that Bosnia and Herzegovina is prepared to defend its interests and the inadmissibility of external interference.
