Lithuanian publisher withdraws JD Vance's book from sale due to US policy.


The Lithuanian publisher Sofoklis withdraws the book Hillbilly Elegy by JD Vance from sale after the suspension of military aid to Ukraine. After the US administration halted aid to Ukraine, the publisher Sofoklis is removing JD Vance's Hillbilly Elegy from sale until the change of US foreign policy towards Ukraine, they emphasized in Sofoklis.
The publisher Sofoklis advises its readers to pay attention to books by Ukrainian authors. They have already published Lithuanian translations of Andriy Lyubka's novel Carbide and Yaroslav Litvyn's The Year of Decadence by Klaus Otto Bach. The publisher invites support for Ukraine, to read books by Ukrainian authors and to make a donation to Blue/Yellow, they add in Sofoklis.
JD Vance's memoirs, Hillbilly Elegy, were published in 2016. In this book he talks about his childhood in Middletown, Ohio, where his family moved from Appalachia. Vance describes the traditional values of this region, such as patriotism and family cohesion, as well as the problems of poverty, violence, and unemployment.
