Lithuania plans to deploy hundreds of troops in Ukraine after peace: details of the agreement.
According to ТСН: The Lithuanian armed forces may appear in Ukraine after the conclusion of the peace agreement. The Lithuanian government is considering sending several hundred troops to strengthen security guarantees.
Discussion of possible deployment
The Minister of Defence of Lithuania, Arvydas Anušauskas, stated in an interview with the national broadcaster LRT that the parameters of the potential deployment of troops are currently being discussed, but the details are not yet disclosed. He also emphasized that Lithuania seeks to contribute to ensuring the security of Ukraine, and the formats of participation depend on the development of the geopolitical situation.
"After reaching peace, several hundred Lithuanian troops may be deployed in Ukraine. We are discussing this possibility, but decisions must be made considering the changing geopolitical situation," Anušauskas noted.
Cooperation for peace
Anušauskas also emphasized that the primary task is to achieve and further ensure lasting peace in Ukraine. Lithuania will continue to coordinate its efforts with partners to form effective security guarantees.
It should be noted that the number of British and French military contingents in Ukraine, in the event of a ceasefire, is lower than expected: both countries plan to deploy up to 15,000 servicemen.
This news indicates Lithuania's growing interest in a more active role in ensuring security in Ukraine, which could significantly impact the further development of the situation in the region. In the context of the overall European security policy, such cooperation underscores the importance of international support in achieving stability and peace in Ukraine.
