Great Britain changes plans for peacekeeping mission in Ukraine: what the troops will focus on.
Great Britain has changed its plans regarding the peacekeeping mission in Ukraine after the active phase of the conflict. Instead of a 30,000-strong military contingent, the focus will now be on securing airspace, training Ukrainian troops, and clearing the Black Sea.
According to The Times, the British military command has abandoned plans for a large-scale peacekeeping mission for Ukrainian ports and cities due to concerns from several European countries and reluctance to send large military contingents.
New mission format
From now on, London and its partners from the 'Coalition of the Resolute' are offering a more flexible approach that involves patrolling the airspace with Typhoon and F-35 aircraft, training troops, and rebuilding infrastructure. In addition, the plan includes clearing the Black Sea and ensuring safe passage for vessels to Ukrainian ports.
The training of Ukrainian troops by British and allied instructors is also envisaged, as well as logistical support and the supply of weapons for the Armed Forces of Ukraine. These updated plans were announced after the working visit of the President of Ukraine to London, where he was welcomed by the Prime Minister of Great Britain.
