The 'Lviv - European Youth Capital 2025' team visited the Belgian city of Ghent, the host of the European Youth Capital, where they received the key-symbol of the title. This information was made public by the Office of 'Lviv - European Youth Capital 2025'.

This solemn event coincided with a day that symbolizes dignity and freedom - the Day of Dignity and Freedom.

'Receiving this key holds special significance for us. It is not just an honorary recognition, but also a great responsibility - to be the voice of Ukrainian youth, who demonstrate resilience, strength, and courage every day in the fight for freedom and opportunities,' emphasized the head of the Office Maria Bovsunovska.

'This is a message to the world about the painful sense of loss: on September 4, 2024, during the next shelling, Russian forces took the life of our colleague, the manager of the 'Lviv - European Youth Capital 2025' office, our Yarka, as well as her mother and sisters. Today, we continue her mission, with full determination to realize the dream that was so important to her,' explained the communication manager of the 'create network!' Yuliya Martyniuk.

It should be noted that Lviv received the title of European Youth Capital 2025 in 2022. According to this title, awarded by the European Youth Forum, cities in Europe have the right to use it for one year.

By the way, Indiana University (USA) paid tribute to 18-year-old Darya Bazylevych, who, along with her mother and sisters, died as a result of a missile strike from Russia. Darya was a volunteer who, along with several students from the Ukrainian Catholic University (UCU), taught the Ukrainian language to students of an American university.

As is known, on September 6, Lviv said farewell to Yevhenia Bazylevych and her daughters Yaryna (21 years), Daryna (18 years) and Emilia (7 years), who died as a result of a missile-drone strike on September 4. Loved ones and friends shared their memories of this family with 'Hlavkom'.
