Maduro and his wife are accused of drug terrorism: details of the U.S. charges.
According to ТСН: Nicolas Maduro, the Venezuelan dictator, and his wife Cilia Flores have been charged in the Southern District of New York. They are accused of conspiracy to commit drug terrorism, supplying cocaine, and possessing weapons and explosives that could have been used against the United States.
U.S. Attorney General Pamela Bondi announced this in her post on X.
“Soon they will face the full wrath of American justice on American soil in American courts,”she wrote.
Bondi also thanked President Trump “for the courage to demand accountability on behalf of the American people.” She noted the bravery of the American military, who conducted, in her words,
“an incredible and extraordinarily successful mission to apprehend two suspected international drug traffickers.”
Recall that U.S. President Donald Trump previously reported that Maduro and his wife were detained and removed from the country. Additionally, the U.S. carried out a successful strike on Venezuelan territory.
This case underscores the seriousness of combating international drug trafficking, as well as the activity of American law enforcement in countering threats to national security. The detention of figures like Maduro could have significant implications for the political situation in the region and international relations.
