According to ТСН: The USA has detained Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro for court proceedings on its territory.
This information was confirmed by Republican Senator from Utah Mike Lee, who stated that he communicated with Secretary of State Marco Rubio.
"He (Rubio - Ed.) told me that Maduro was arrested by American military personnel for court under criminal charges in the United States. The actions that occurred were aimed at protecting those who executed the arrest warrant," wrote the American senator.
According to him, these actions likely fall under the "inherent powers of the president" according to Article II of the Constitution, which concerns the protection of American personnel "from actual or imminent attack".
It is noted that further actions in Venezuela should not be expected, as Maduro is now in custody in the USA.
At the same time, The Times reports that Venezuelan Vice President Delcy Rodriguez, during her speech on state television, stated that the whereabouts of Maduro and his wife are unknown. She urged President Donald Trump to provide evidence of their lives.
