Byron Burgers is famous for its premium dishes and creates a cozy atmosphere for visitors seeking a tasty meal.

However, The Grocer reports that the company has encountered financial troubles again, even though more than two years ago it managed to overcome a crisis.

This premium burger chain belongs to Tristar Foods Ltd, which has already applied for an administrator appointment.

Reductions and Layoffs

Byron Burgers was founded in 2007 and quickly gained popularity thanks to its tasty burgers and exquisite dishes. In 2018, the chain had 67 outlets across the UK.

However, financial problems forced Byron Burgers to reduce its network. Like many other establishments, Byron Burgers was affected by the COVID pandemic, which significantly lowered visitor traffic.

In 2020, the company reduced the number of restaurants from 51 to 21, and in 2023 announced a new reduction, closing ten more establishments to survive.

These reductions have led to the loss of over 600 jobs, and employees are now concerned about their future amidst the company's uncertainty.

The Sun reached out to Byron Burgers for comment.

This news comes against the backdrop of yet another award-winning chain declaring bankruptcy in the summer.

The burger chain Eat The Bird, which first appeared in Taunton, closed all three of its establishments after failing to pay meat supplier Fairfax Meadow Europe Ltd.

In 2023, many restaurants have closed due to rising rent and import costs.

The Situation Impacted the Market

Even establishments with Michelin stars are facing difficulties. For example, the iconic restaurant La Dame de Pic in London closed its doors back in February.

The restaurant La Goccia in Covent Garden closed in the spring, citing difficulties in hiring workers caused by COVID and Brexit.

Some large retail chains such as Poundland and Claire's are also experiencing financial difficulties.

Both chains have faced problems, and Claire's declared bankruptcy in July, halting all online orders.

Stores across the UK are struggling for survivalGetty In current conditions, the UK restaurant market faces serious challenges. The pandemic and related economic difficulties, as well as changes in supply, have impacted the ability of many establishments to survive. The closures of chains like Byron Burgers and others may signal long-term changes in consumer behavior and the market atmosphere.
